Movies
So the whole Blockbuster rental thing has been great. I get to rent lots of movies and thus far I have been enjoying lots of them. And then it occured to me-
Either I have a horribly good knack for picking out good movies or I am far too easy to please. While I don't go around throwing "BEST MOVIE EVARZ" all the time (Ratatouille is still #1, just in case you were wondering), after each movie I am thoroughly pleased and rather well contented. For different reasons, of course. Talladega Nights was a thrill ride in the Will Ferrel being stupid category, which is something I enjoy dabbling in, while my recent venture with Finding Neverland was a train ride on the imagination express. I find something to love in almost any movie I watch. I do, of course, recognize that not all movies are as good as others, but on the whole I seem too...happy with movies.
Optimism is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but I also fear being the kind of person who says that every movie is a wonderful creation in its own right, since that is not always true. Especially because I'm the kind of person who would, after a certain point, pride myself in my opinions of movies.
I believe it is this fear that leads many critics to dismiss a movie, however. And I don't like movie critics all that much. Mainly because many people treat their opinions as fact.
So, in short, I really enjoyed Finding Neverland. Lots of good acting and the little parts where they sidetracked into the imagination land never failed to make me smile. And I can't make my mind up whether or not I have any taste in movies or not. I suppose its a nice place where I am, since at least I enjoy watching them. The worst thing in the world would be to sit down in a movie and not enjoy myself at all.
